Things to Do in Fleetwood

One of the many aspects to consider when choosing a new city to relocate to is the entertainment options. While it may not be as pressing as school districts or safety, having access to community events and city life are still important. If Fleetwood is on your short list, here are some of the exciting activities that you can do in Fleetwood and the greater Surrey area.

Fleetwood Community Centre

Formed in 1923, the Fleetwood Community Association has been tasked with promoting the area and providing recreation for the community. The land that the original Community Hall was built on was donated, and the construction was done entirely by volunteers. The new Fleetwood Community Centre was completed in 1995 and features several meeting halls, a fitness center and weight room, and has programs especially catered for all age ranges, from youth to seniors. Visit the Fleetwood Community Centre for community activities for you and your family.

Parks in Fleetwood

Fleetwood features nearly 30 parks, including nature trails, youth parks and dog parks. Several of the community’s parks are perfect for observing some of the beautiful flora and fauna of Southwest Canada. There are also numerous tennis and basketball courts, soccer and football fields and playgrounds dedicated to keeping Fleetwood’s youth active. Fleetwood also offers plenty of dog parks, including several off-leash parks, allowing your pup the freedom to stretch its legs over lush open spaces or through winding wooded trails.

Fleetwood Festival

Since 1999, the city has sponsored the annual Fleetwood Festival in September. It is a popular event filled with a wide range of activities designed for the whole family. Some of the popular activities included a magic show, Irish dancing, a bouncy castle, arts, crafts, games and more. Located at Francis Park near the Fleetwood Community Centre, the Fleetwood Festival has become a perennial point of pride for Fleetwood that citizens young and old look forward to all year.

Fleetwood Library

Another point of pride is the Fleetwood Library. From book clubs to story times, to craft classes to movie screenings, the Fleetwood Library offers fun and educational activities for all ages and walks of life. It also proudly displays local artist in their arts and crafts displays. If you would like to book one of their meeting rooms for a conference or meeting, those are available to the public, as well.
